HOCLOOP Project Showcased at EAGE Annual 2024 in Oslo

The HOCLOOP Project was prominently featured at the 85th EAGE Annual Conference, held in Oslo, which brought together global experts in geoscience and engineering to discuss sustainable energy solutions. This prestigious event provided a platform for sharing insights and advancing the dialogue on innovative geothermal technologies.

Magnus Wangen from the Institute for Energy Technology presented a poster titled «Simulation of Closed-Loop Geothermal Systems.» This collaborative work, co-authored by Vlasios Leontidis from IFP Energies Nouvelles, Edgar Hernandez Acevedo and Virginie Harcouët-Menou from VITO, and Pietro Ungar from Università degli Studi di Firenze, highlighted the HOCLOOP project’s advancements in sustainable geothermal resource exploitation through a closed-loop system.

The presentation emphasized the longevity and sustainability of closed-loop geothermal solutions, showcasing how these systems provide stable energy output over extended periods and offer a viable alternative to traditional geothermal methods. This innovative approach aligns with the HOCLOOP project’s goals of enhancing efficiency and safety in geothermal heat extraction.
